Default Tint Removal

Has anyone had tints removed on their newer model NX? I had Suntek tints added on the front two windows and they scratched within weeks. Even noticed a couple of small bubbles. I’d like to have them removed, but I’m nervous they leave residue. Plus, I’ve read about Lexus having some special glass on their cars, so I want to make sure I’m not potentially ruining my car. The scratches and bubbles are minor and I can live with them if I have to, but don’t want to if I can get them removed for free. Thanks all!

I have no way to confirm, but from what I understand the NX windows have a special coating and it is essentially impossible to remove tint.

Who installed the tint? If it was the dealer or their authorized installed, I would absolutely get that remedied by them ASAP. If they can't remove the tint... replace the windows

The new generation NX (2022 and forward) should be fine for tint removal. I had my wife's 2022 NX350 windows tinted with no issues at a local window tint shop. The prep portion would have warned if there was a coating. I have a previous generation NX300 (2019) that the window tint shop would not remove the dealer-installed tint due to the coating on the front windows for that generation. You should be able to confirm with a reputable tint shop in your area for your vehicle (like if they do computer cut tints they should get a warning about the coating if it applies to your vehicle) but I believe the UV window coating only applied to the previous generation NX. I'd recommend ceramic tint but it's a little more expensive.

The tint can be removed without damage to the windows. Like all other factory tinted windows the tint is in the window not on the surface of the glass. Suntek is a poor film and is known to scratch. I have had all my cars and trucks tinted for years with Llumar film without any problems. The scratches are because of the low quality film, the bubbles are because of the poor quality installer. Take the car to a reputable installer that installs computer cut Llumar film and have them remove the Suntech and install Llumar. "Free" ------------probably not.

good luck

I read elsewhere that Suntek was a poor brand, only after I’d had mine installed. Thank you for the insight!

Sounds like you were offended by my my response, not my intent--------------------you ask the question and I gave a reasonable response.

How did you pick up that I was offended? I was agreeing with what you said about Suntek. If anything, you’re the only person to give me the response I was looking for.
