Changes to HUD Display? Software Update?
Hello everyone... Has anyone noticed any changes to their HUD software? I noticed today that mine is now displaying a brief animation similar to the startup animation in the guage cluster (not infotainment screen). and now is prompting me to select a Yes/No repsonse to a setting option that was never there. I've attached two photos. One photo is VERY hard to see the animation due to the white background of my garage door but you can see it if you look closely. Just after the animation is the new prompt I'm seeing. I looked at the software update history in the infotainment and there is not indication a push was received. In fact it says the last push was in September of '22. My car hasn't been in service recently.
I do see the animation and the message you’re referring to. However, those have both been there for a while now—I’ve seen them both on my car. There hasn’t been a recent software in a while, which is disappointing considering Toyota advertised OTA updates as a primary feature on the new multimedia system. But I digress.
The animation will only show up on the HUD if you had the HUD turned on the last time you used the car. If you didn’t have the HUD turned on for your last drive, it will be turned off now: the result being you won’t see the animation and any messages on the HUD. Note that the message you’re seeing will show up on the instrument panel.
There’s a chance you had it on before but just didn’t know because the height or brightness was too low. That happened to me. Do you remember changing any settings for the HUD before you saw the animation?
So if you like seeing the animation and driver messages on the HUD, keep it on. Otherwise you’ll never see anything on the HUD, with the exception for pre-collision system warnings (these will bypass any settings you’ve changed for the HUD and always show up).

it really isn’t that big of a deal I was more hopeful there was an update where I may find additional functions along the way.
