Well after 56 years of driving without an incident….. this happened. And could be months before I see it back together. And 2 weeks away from owning it 1 year.
Up close that front end area etc. is flimsy beyond what I could imagine.
Most important thing is that you are OK. The front is design to absorb the energy when there is impact. The car is doing it's job and as designed to ensure the energy does not impact the cabin.
So very sorry to see your beautiful car has been in an accident.
Yes these are very well engineered vehicles that are meant to keep the human occupants protected as best as possible, with the intent that they take all of the impact of a collision and not you. Components deform and crush to absorb the forces from the collision, systems shut down and maybe even alert safety authorities of your collision sending police fire and ambulance to your location. The fact that you're standing outside your car and taking pictures means you're relatively unharmed (but not your car). Truly hope it can be fixed soon or if needed, replaced.
First comment on fixing not till late May earliest. But they haven’t reviewed damage, parts needed etc plus timeline for parts. One vehicle they have waiting 4 months to date. Retired so a lot less driving. But still……
Speaking from experience I understand your frustration, particularly if you were not at fault. We had a similar crash in my wife's 2016 Corolla last year that deployed all airbags and was a total loss. I'm glad you're ok and it looks like your car did it's best to keep you uninjured.
Well I did the same on my 2017 ES350 in 2017. After 2 weeks I got the car, I side swiped, well sort of brushed against another car, than god the damage on my car and the other party's car was very very minor......repainted my front bumper and his right front door only.
Glad you are ok, probably shaken up, but otherwise...
Vehicles blow to pieces these days....yours doesn't look that bad, but after reading Midcows estimate for that damage....someone's making money on the repairs.
I'm guessing you might have to wait a bit just to get parts, but I'm sure they'll have it good as new before long.
Glad your OK,
Bought my first car when I was 16 and a Junior in HS (1959)---------------------been lucky to date.
The real problem is your going to take a big hit when you trade it in. I'm guessing this will be listed as major damage on Car Fax.
