Default Struts and Shocks.

HI. My wife's 2017 NX200t is at just over 40,000. She wants to replace the Struts and Shocks. What is the best brand to go with; I am ignorant to Japanese car parts. I was looking into KYBs.

She is looking for ride more than performance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I can't imagine replacing struts/shocks after only 40k/5 years. You might want to (alternatively?) consider looking at the tires. I once had RunFlats and I'll never get them again. Not for me. They have some benefits, but for me the softer ride was more important so I ditched them. Some tires might give a harder ride than others. ALSO, the tire pressure that you drive with could affect the softness/bumpiness of the ride. You might want to look into that as well. Of course, it's also important to properly inflate and regularly rotate the tires as well.

I made a mistake once replacing OEM shocks with aftermarket brand (forgot which one) on RX350. Indi mechanic pushed these on me and I caved in. The car never rode again as well as it did on OEM-s. So, tread carefully with aftermarket shocks. BTW, car had about 140K on odometer.

Has anyone noticed an improvement in the comfort of their ride by changing their SHOCKs?
I have a 2020 NX (base) with 102k miles. I do mostly smooth road highway driving.
The original tires lasted me 81k (and still had another 10k+ left) and I replaced them with the exact same ones. I rotate every 5k and monitor/set tire pressure regularly. I'm big on preventive maintenance and I was just wondering if I were to change the shocks, would I notice an improvement?
Thanks for your input.

I doubt it. Generally Lexus are already setup for ride comfort unless you opt for the F sport . Even that can be dialled back a bit.

I have an FSport ... what do you mean dialed back a bit? I'd like to improve ride comfort.

My biggest regret is getting RSR, I should have gotten more comfortable coilovers. I def recommend either getting the lowering springs to keep the ride comfort. But if you're looking for the whole strut tower, I've heard good things from bilsten.

I just put the bilstiens in the rear, I carry plenty of people in there felt I needed a tougher shock. I have and 2016 f-sport awd, without electric assist for the shocks. Rides comfortably, I also just put on some Nitto new tires, but I am not on stock wheels. The ride is super smooth and very very quiet on those tires. And handling with the bilstiens is very good for mine even with a full car load.
