Default 2015 NX300h w/Rooftop Cargo Box

Just wanted to post up my new setup for anyone interested in doing the same. This is on my 2015 NX300h. I used OEM Lexus crossbars ($360 shipped from an online Lexus parts dealer) and the Thule Pulse M ($550 from REI):

This will add quite a bit of storage for road trips. Total price was roughly $900 - which to my wife and I was much better than buying a bigger vehicle.

Omg.. thats expensive. I mean looks good but nah. My roof rack was from amazon for the NX and was like $80. Looks great and looks OEM too.

We have the OEM crossbars coming in for our 2021 NX, and we have the Thule Motion XT in gloss black, shared between the NX and our UX. Works perfect.

Looks good! What kind of mpg hit are you taking? I went the hitch rack route due to garage clearance in my building but would like to get a roof box in the future.

I haven't done any actual calculations... but recently my wife drove the car about an hour and a half (one way) freeway drive away for work and I had just filled up the tank. The onboard MPG calculator when she got back was like around 26mpg when we normally get about 30mpg for mostly freeway driving... so take that 4mpg hit with a grain of salt. Luckily... part of our choice to go rooftop was that both of us now work from home so neither of our cars get driven much and therefore we did not care much about any mpg hit the rooftop box would give us just because we are generally saving on fuel much more than before when we both had commutes.

Here is mine, I actually get better gas mileage by 1-2mpg if I have the roof box on the car while towing the camper, 19-21mpg. I have noticed slight hit of maybe 1 mpg when driving with the box, but I rarely use it without the camper so don't have super accurate results. Mine is just cheap $100 ebay racks bars and a big yakima skybox.

So real world MPG test... just got home from a 1300 mile round trip with the cargo box on. I'd say the last time we did the same-ish drive we got 31mpg... with the cargo box on it dropped to just over 26mpg. Thats about what i thought it would be after some internet research prior to leaving for the trip.
