Today I had the fuel pump recall performed, which I was not expecting. I appreciated the initiative, but it would have been nice if the Service Manage would have told me. He said it would take 1 hour to do the work I had scheduled, and I was left to wonder why it was taking more than 2.5 hours (he went to lunch, so I could not ask him). I would have reduced the amount of fuel in the tank and left the car all day, rather than waiting, if I had known their plan in advance.

The NX now exhibits several operational behaviors that did not exist before:

-1- The audio system and climate control system always default to OFF after the engine is shut down, even if both were turned on when the engine Stop button was pressed. I have to turn both on manually at each restart. Both used to retain their previous state.
-2- The vehicle always starts in ECO mode, which I have never used. I manually switch to the Normal setting, but it always defaults to ECO upon restart. This did not occur before the recall work.
-3- There is a "mystery" warning light on within the tach. It turns on and stays on whenever the engine is running. The symbol resembles a orange gear surrounding an exclamation mark (see attached photo). I cannot find this symbol in the owners manual and have no idea what it means.

Does anyone know how the change the audio, climate control, and transmission default behavior, or know what the "gear" symbol means?

That gear warning is usually a transmission warning light, I would have the dealer look at it and fix all the other issues you have stemming from the update. My guess is that they updated your software and screw everything up. The transmission issue might be a separate problem or related .
