I've read lots of stories about people losing their fobs. Last week with one of my kids home from college and another just getting his permit, there were several people driving and yesterday when running errands with my key in my pocket, I touched the door handle on my 18 NX300 to lock it and it alerted me that a key was in the car. I've confirmed that the fob my wife and daughter share is missing. After spending two hours tearing the 2018 NX300 apart, this fob is simply not in the car that we can find. BUT, putting my fob in the the house and then walking out to the driveway I can sit in the car and start it! I pulled every part, carpet and item that I can out of the car and carefully went through it. Pulled trim panels off the seat rails, everything. I pulled the negative terminal off the battery just to make sure there wasn't some weird glitch. I've checked inside the seats, inside the trim edge on the backs of both front seats, pulled out the spare, etc. No stone unturned and yet simply cannot find a fob in the vehicle! Any ideas? Its not like there are sunglass pockets or storage bins in the NX to hide a fob but I'm at my wits end trying to figure it out! Any ideas?
All, so after two complete detailed examinations of the car, a made a third one tonight. I moved the passenger seat forward fully and upwards fully. Anyone with an 18 NX will know that you cant actually fully raise the passenger seat as the headrest hits the ceiling and stops the motion! While I could still not see fully under the seat even laying on the floor in the back, I was able to reach under the seat and on top of the top rail of the seat track closest to the center console. The fob was resting inside that track. It was barely visible and only when I put my phone down under the seat to photograph it. I cannot understand how this managed to fall between the seat and the console and yet get past the felt sheet hanging between the two and get into that track. Nonetheless, mystery solved.
