It is personal choice - selecting the vehicle. Drive both, X1 and NX and decide which one you like better (driving, seating, comfort, etc.). Just remember, most people visiting forums are enthusiasts, or here with some kind of complain, or are looking for advise. Happy average owner typically does not visit forums.
Should you decide to go with BMW, purchase extended warranty and get to know their service really well.

This is entirely up to personal preference. Some people love German engineering (or the thought of it). Others want the known reliability of a Lexus (although it appears BMW, as a brand, is improving). Some like the ride of the NX, or maybe its features, while others might like the ride of the X1 and its features. Some might pick one for a better price, or a better deal. Drive both, many times if needed, until one is convincingly better than the other for you.
