Default Glove box lamp?

Does the glove box have a light?
When open position, I see a push rod which u would think operate lamp.

Just got my Silver lining w/red interior 2016 NX FSPORT AWD w/triple LEDs yesterday. Thanks to you all, I am ahead on the learning curve.

Turn the ignition on, and you'll see it come on...its tied with when the headlights are on...idk why Lexus designed it this way. My past cars had glovebox lights turn on when opened and stayed on for 30-60 seconds.

Glovebox lights only come on when it's dark - or when the dash lights go dim.

If your headlights are set to "Auto" this is true. If you turn them on manually then the glove box lamp will light when you open the door.

Are we talking about the storage area in front of the passenger?

The headlight and dash lights have different sensors, it would make sense the glovebox would follow the interior sensor for the dash rather than the one for the headlights.

Maybe I'm wrong, but the glovebox (and other interior lights) use the headlight status as an indicator that it is probably not bright outside. If it is—indeed—bright outside (headlights off) then the assumption could be that there is enough ambient lighting to see inside the glovebox.
