Glove Box Light
I was driving to work this morning (still dark out) with my headlights on and opened the glove box. I realized that a light didn't come on. I looked in the box and didn't see a light and looked in the Owner's Manual and didn't see any reference to a glove box light in any of the logical sections (bulb replacement, interior lighting, etc.). I have had several other Lexus vehicles and I guess this is the first time I've noticed no light when the box is open and the headlights are on.
Am I missing something or is there no light in the LS glove box?

Stan, my 08 has the $1800 option, seriously. In fact, the light in the glove box is adequate although not extremely bright. I just tried it by opening the glove box and turning on the parking lights. I also have the $1000. option, a light in the console but it is not as bright as the glove box light, hence the significant price difference.

What option are we speaking of? I have a light its a LED with a orange rubber cap to change the color temp from 6000k to around 2500k. Its in the bottom left. If you look under your dash you pop those little caps off and your lighting will go from dull yellow to bright hyperwhite.

I'ld really like to know what it is called.
I might Oh ! So wanna inquire as to whether my dealer can install it as an after-market option now.
I feel somewhat belittled that our darling 2008 does not contain this option.

The interior lighting in the LS is truly underwhelming. Must be intended for those that might wind up with someone in the passenger seat that you really don't want to get a too good a look at.
I keep one of those small 9-led flashlights in the overhead glasses case. It's wrapped in a thin layer of foam to keep from rattling. Works great, can see in glove box, under seats...everywhere...except the passenger seat.

Im sure he was just joking. But heres a pic of the light. I just took a pic for you to show you how it looks with the orange diffuser caps removed. These ugly diffuser cover most of the interior leds. You just need to remove them and they become brighter and hyper white instead of dull yellow. There under the dash and in the backseats under the map pockets. I need to take apart the overhead console to access those too.

Gamma is correct, I was joking (that's why I used after my post). Maybe I should have used . Then again, maybe I should have just shut up, sometimes my humor doesn't translate well to the written word.
I was not kidding about keeping a small flashlight in the glove compartment. I wrap mine in a facecloth. I am going to follow up on Gamma's tip about removing the diffuser because the light is so dim it's virtually useless.

WOW. Sorry to learn that. I was sooooooooooooooo looking forward to showing Miss Barbie our new $1800 dealer-installed LIGHT option ... and then explaining why we got this instead of some useless gift for her for the Holidays !
LOL !
Y'all play nicely now, y'hear ? !!!

Nospinzone,
I remember asking the forum for advice on breaking in my new 2011 LS460. You gave me some information including advice not to forget to break in the ML!! Had me convinced for a couple of minutes. Don't drop your humour - we are often too serious.
