I'm closing in on a 16 NX. The only thing that gives me pause is the entire car having a one year history, let alone just it being in the 2nd year of a new model, so there's no reliability record. Has Lexus made any reliability-related changes for 2016? Are there any records of how the I4 Turbo has held up?

I can tell you from overseeing this forum since inception that not a single person posted an issue regarding the engine (or transmission). Mechanically, extremely reliable. Some quirks with the '15 may be carried over, including the Infotainment lockup and Nav screen peeling. All replaced under warranty.

I've bought past Lexus vehicles in their first year with no regrets (CT, IS, NX, RC). If you like the NX, go for it!

 

The only thread I remember on engine problems is the engine vibration as you release the brakes.

 

They have yet to replace my infotainment, because they were "unable to duplicate customer complaint." I told them to simply BT any of their phones to the car and try to listen to music :P Still waiting on a resolution for that...

Otherwise Corrado is absolutely right. Lexus is slow to add new features/tech to their cars so they can prevent massive recalls and what not. They prefer to use tried-and-true components whenever possible. The fact that more of the lineup is getting the 8AR engine speaks volumes! The 6speed trans is bullet proof, compared to the 9 speeds in any Chrysler or Benz. (Lexus took 9yrs to build the motor btw, so they clearly put a lot of thought into it's operation and placement )

If you like the NX, get one. The warranty is more than sufficient, and all of the tech has been perfected since it debuted on older models. Radar cruise, BSM, pre-collision, etc. is nothing new to the marquee, you'll be fine.
