Default Remote car starter for Canadian Models

Picked up my 2015 NX in Oct. wanted to include a remote starter. Dealership said Lexus wasn't happy with the performance of their OEM option and don't expect anything to be available until spring 2016. When I went in for my first service, I asked tech if he had any suggestions for an aftermarket remote starter. He said Lexus didn't recommend "any" aftermarket models as they could interfere with vehicles electronic system. Wondering if anyone has added an aftermarket starter to their NX200? Looking to add one as I really miss it from my last vehicle. Thanks

idatalink's ADS-ALCA module is fully compatible with the Lexus computers. I have the same module on my 2015 IS. You can use the module as a standalone with the factory fob for remote starter, as I did on my IS, or with aftermarket remote, as I did on the NX.

When started remotely, the engine will stop when opening upon opening any door. This is due to the factory programming and same happens with the Lexus Enform system used in the USA. The keyless entry function and smart key and trunk opening will operate seamlessly (not the case with some aftermarket modules).

My local installer charged $300 for the module standalone setup and $450 with the Compustar Slice Jr. remote.

Our dealership installed an aftermarket remote starter on our NX. I cannot remember the brand, but it works great.

I can start my 2015 Lexus NX by using the key fob. Press the lock button three time. Each time the amber light will flash and on the third time flash a couple of times before staring the motor. An unknown feature, all factory. The engine will turn off once you unlock the car.
One article implied you need to have the Lexus Inform app installed, but I'm not sure what that has to do with it. Of course you can remote start from the app itself.

Unfortunately this isn't available in Canada. Neither is the Enform app.

Does this mean that I'm starting the engine twice everytime I start it remotely? If so I don't think Lexus thought that through.

My dealer says they produce their own remote starter but it uses a separate fob. I'll have to ask about this quirk because really it doesn't make any sense. At the price they quoted me this is a deal-breaker for me (the remote starter...not the vehicle).

The remote starter brings comfort heating up seat and whatever. but because it is remote, somebody else could try to open the car and steal it. because it is already running. so making a second start isn't a bad thing, and a start itself isn;t so difficult like in usual cars.

And before anyone says "Well, other cars stay running...", it's just a safety decision that Lexus made. Live with it.

Times have changed! Haven't used a remote start in at least 10 years.

I get the point about the easy restart, but couldn't they program if the key fob is in range do not cut off engine?

It really isn't a big deal. You unlock and open the door, the engine shuts off. You reach over a press the button, start the NX again and off you go.

If there is any way you could get the brand and model of what they installed, and post it here, I'd greatly appreciate it. Perhaps it's shown on your invoice? Really miss having a remote car starter. Thanks
