Default Lexus NX 300h

Hello

I have a question about this hybrid model:

What happens if for example, in the middle of winter, one is stopped on a highway due congestion where the car cannot move. Does that mean that there will be no heat in the cabin because the gas engine of the hybrid will be off? Or does it detect the situaiton and maintain the cabin temperature?

Same question but summer and air conditioning.

Help appreciated.

The engine will run to maintain the needed radiator temperature operating range. Cold affects your heat, but also the catalytic converter operating range so it runs as needed.

^^^ +1. Heat comes from the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) and will kick in as needed to maintain heat in the cabin.
