Default Turning off smart key?

Is there a way to turn off the smart key? I surf and can't take the key out into the water with me. I was hoping there was a way I can turn off the key and just take the valet key with me into the water. Any advice would be helpful thank you.

You can lock the car with valet key, while leaving the key fob inside the car.

You can't lock the doors with the key fob inside or near the vehicle.

Remove the battery? (yeah, I know, that's a painful option)

My understanding is that you can lock the car with the metal key (ie manually) even if the electronic fob is in the car.

Your other option is to put the key fob in "battery saver" mode (RTFM on that), the fob won't communicate until you press a button on it, that will turn it on. You can then use the metal key to manually lock and unlock the door with the fob inside the car.

Turning off "smart key" in the LPS only turns off the sensors on the door handles, doesn't turn off the keyless entry capabilities.
