It's a shame that an owner has to do this themselves.
I had a rearview mirror/overhead console rattle. While I certainly have the ability to correct this myself, I took it into Lexus and they added insulation to stop the rattling.
I didn't want to do this myself, the reasons being:
1) Lexus needs to know. If I resolved this on my own, they will never know.
2) What if I break a plastic tab that holds something together? If Lexus breaks it, they will fix/replace it.

People fix it themselves because, mostly, they want to. People like to tinker. Lexus is going to investigate and fix legitimate complaints of noise, and the dealers have NVH gear to do it. Hell, even I have that kind of kit.
You can believe it that Lexus is also monitoring what people are saying on this forum

Of course they are.I'm also as big as a tinkerer as anyone else.
However, I would venture to guess that the number of NX users on this forum is a very, very, very small drop in the NX ocean. (did I mention "very small"?)
Rule out (or pinpoint)the source:
- Check the center armrest. It can make a tiny squeak sound when closed up, resolved with vinyl/leather conditioner around the arm rest. -
- Lower the rear seat rear seat all the way.
- Check for the jack or other equipment beneath the cargo floor for looseness
- If you have one, remove the license plate cover/frame and test. If it's that and you want to keep it, get window draft foam strip (or equivalent), cut up strips and place between the the frame and license plate to absorb the rattle.[/QUOTE]
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried them all with no luck. It seems to be a ticking sound sound from the left side in the back area. I can hear it from my left side when driving. Its intermittent, so I know the dealer will not heard it.
I had one back there and thankfully it was simple. The seat belt in for the back seat on the drivers side was hitting against the side of the vehicle. Stuck it down in the crack of the seat and the rattle stopped. Check that out first.
Hopefully it's a simple one.
Thanks for the the tip. I moved both seat belts as far back as I could, but not luck. I even has the back seats folded at one point and still heard the ticking.

I thought the rattle came from between the license plate and the actual cargo door surface. I have a frame around my plate and—when I heard the rattling—put a piece of foam on the back of the plate. The plate now rests on the foam, which rests on the metal of the NX's cargo door. The rattling disappeared.

I removed the frame. The dealer put some foam on the door where the bottom of the license would touch the door. Its seems pretty solid.

The dealer actually stuck something onto your paint? Yikes! I would have them remove it and put the foam on the license plate, not directly on the car's surface.
Regarding the wind buffeting noise we all (or most of us) seem to hear above 45 mph (70 kph), it's possible the mirror is the contributor.
My mirror feels flimsy on its pivot axis and I notice a larger (and longer) gap compared to the RX or IS which did not produce this noticeable noise. To validate if this is a contributing factor, I added tape to close the gap. Of course this is an unsightly and non-permanent fix, but it's to help pinpoint the source.
I did a same speed run with and without the tape on the same street, same direction to eliminate wind speed/direction variables, and the buffeting wind noise was reduced.
To ensure it's not a fluke or a placebo effect of some kind can anyone else try this and validate? Make sure to place the tape snugly mounted (about 10-12" piece) all around the gap.
Thanks!
Hey Corrado,
I picked up my 2015 F-Sport1 last week and this is the only thing i really noticed that bugs me. I hear the wind buffeting noise on the driver's side when the car is moving. It's very hard to hear at 40km/h but becomes more noticeable once I hit 60km/h.
Have you found an updated fix or is the gap at the hinge of the mirror still your prime suspect? I'm thinking of bringing mine into the dealer for this next week. I'm not sure if this is considered "acceptable" in an SUV but I'm still very glad that this is the only issue so far. My 2012 TL had various rattles in the hat shelf (all addressed through formal TSBs and appropriately fixed) that drove me nuts.
I'm paying attention to rattles and creaks along the nav screen and rear-view mirrior. I'm also looking for solutions to the navigation screen splitting when it touches moisture.

The dealer (at least mine) will fix any rattles you may encounter—as long as it's reproducible for them. They fixed my mirror rattle by adding more insulation in it.

From the sounds of it, Swacer and I have reported here we're getting an occasional tap/clunk sound heard around the footwell or driver's lower door.
I suspect it's the infamous brake pad shifting syndrome common with some Lexus vehicles (same experience with my past RX and IS) reproducible when you reverse and hit the brakes the first time (after having driven forward for a bit). I suspect it's the same source/noise I hear on occasion when driving forward making a turn, going over a bump, or various other conditions. If this is the brake pads shifting, it may be fixed with shims added by the dealer to tighten them up, but it's temporary until the pads wear further and the sound reoccurs....
Anyone else with this and how many miles/KMs on your NX?
Mine started doing this at around 13-14k km and sounds to be more noticeable as kms go by.
