Question Inherited a 2017 NX200t

We inherited this vehicle and it has only 22,000 miles on it. In great condition. The late owner didn't drive it much but had regular services done at the local Lexus dealer. When looking it over this morning I saw a black hose, about one inch diameter hanging under the car mid-way between the driver's door and rear passenger door. About under the mid-car pillar. It will replace my 2012 Nissan LEAF which has a failing traction battery (down to about 40 miles range).

My plan, as soon as the new license plate is received, is to take the car to my trusted local auto shop where I've taken various cars for the past 25 years. Honest and reliable!

After a full inspection and having all fluids changed, do you here have any recommendations or advice?

I'm curious about the loose hose of course.

Regards to the group and thanks in advance for any advice.

Do frequent oil changes this engine doesn't do well with extended OCI. Timing chain stretch and timing chain guide wear can be an issue. Water pump is known to fail more than normal for a Toyota engine. Coolant must be checked on a regular basis.

IMO the 8AR-FTS is not up to Toyota's reliability standards but regular maintenance will go a long way.

Check the linked previous message thread to see if this is the hanging hose you asked about:

Ah, I didn't think of that. I'll run the A/C and see what happens. Of course, it is 33 degrees outside now, but will see and reply back to this suggestion. I checked the link to the broken emissions hose and will figure that one out too. It might be the problem, nothing that a PVC pipe double end adapter with clamps can't fix.
Thank you!
Dave

Thanks for that advice. I looked on line and found lots of comments on "reddit" about the BAR-FTS. At first, being an old soldier I thought that acronym referred to the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR). LOL. I looked at the maintenance display after I figured out how to work that touchpad next to the shift lever. Seems that Miss Jane (the late owner, RIP) was taking the car to local Lexus dealer about every 5K miles. I'm going to do a regular PMCS routine -- oops, Army again, PMCS stands for Preventative Maintenance Checks and Service). Speaking of "reddit" which I am not on, OMG!

Cheers,
Dave

Good advice. I'm working the problem and saved the photos for reference.

Thank you!

Coming from an old soldier’s wife — Just wanted to make sure that was a typo (bolded above) and you meant 8AR-FTS with the #8 as in below.

Default Broken Hose

OK, I got a picture of the hose which is disconnected under the driver side. One suggestion was that it is the emissions control evaporator drain. Looks like the plastic connector between the rear hose run and the front hose run is broken. Picture attached. I'm planning to use a double-ended PVC pipe splice with stainless steel hose clamps at each side to repair. After this next project is reattach the left exhaust pipe end nozzle which was broken when driver backed into something.

Cheers and the work goes on.
