I am wondering what your experience is with the NX... Looking at getting this car for my wife but her concerns is the reliability and cost to fix things.
I have previously owned a 2001 IS300 (never had one issue with the 2JZ) and now also own a 2010 RX350 with 60K on it no issues.
I would rather her have the RX and i get another IS or a TACOMA but the size for her is big she is only 5'4.
she currently has a 2022 Honda accord and prior to that had a 2019 Honda HRV
I've owned a few Lexus and Toyota models.
Currently - 2020 NX Base, 83k miles, 4+ years, mostly highway driving - NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM, ALL NORMAL MAINTENANCE.
The original Michelin tires lasted 81k miles !
I LOVE Lexus and Toyota. I would be hard pressed to consider anything else.

We just recently bought a 2020 NX with 26K miles and can’t tell you how pleased we are with it!! Like your wife, reliability, safety and maintenance costs were extremely important to me as well. It took me months researching what I wanted and finding the right car to fit our wants/needs list. I have ZERO regrets buying the NX!!
Whatever you decide to buy I would pay close attention to the best years for the model you decide to choose — you can google “model name best years” to find out what years stood out above the others.
And I can’t believe you have a 2010 RX with only 60K miles on it — score!!
Coming from someone who’s had an Accord, 4Runner, Sequoia, 3 MDX’s and now an NX, I can happily say once I went up (to an SUV) I never came back down to a sedan. I am shorter than your wife and have ALWAYS had running boards/side steps on all our SUVs. My sister went from an RDX to an RX 350 which is kinda the size of my MDX, so when I decided to downsize, I looked at RDXs and NXs… I made the right choice for myself!!
If you decide to grow your family I would say it’s a little tighter in the NX than in the RX.
There are people who like the touch screen more (2nd Gen NX) and others that are okay with the infotainment and all the buttons like myself (1st Gen NX) and people who bought the 2021 NX and regretted not waiting until the 2022-on up NX with all the upgrades came out.
I say you can’t go wrong with either (1st gen or 2nd gen) — it’s just a personal preference. But test drive both to see what suits your’s and your wife’s needs the most.
And of course you can’t go wrong with your RX, just install running boards for her.
My husband has had a Tacoma, a Tundra, an FJ Cruiser and now another Tundra — so you can’t go wrong with a Tacoma or have you considered a RAV4 or a 4Runner? Toyota and Lexus have always been known for their reliability and safety - again, just pay attention to the model years.
I look forward to enjoying my NX in the years to come.
I hope this helps.

I am so glad you mentioned your ‘20 NX original Michelin tires lasted 81k miles!! I believe the Michelins on the ‘20 NX we recently bought are original and it only had 26+K miles on it - Yay for us!! So glad it didn’t come with the much complained about Yokohamas like some ‘20 NXs did!!

yeah when I saw the Rx had only 57k when I looked at it my eyes lit up since it is basically brand new

I have always been partial towards Michelin.
I'm sure some of the contributing factors to the 81k miles on the tires are:
90% highway miles - mostly steady at 55-65mph. No swerving or quick/sharp turns.
Rotated every 5k (front<->back).
Tire pressure checked every few weeks.
I once had a nail in one time, but I patched/plugged it myself.
When I went to shop for replacements (I still had another 6 months of driving left on them), I really wanted to get the SAME model. Also, I wanted to purchase from COSTCO. They told me they could get them, but it would take a couple weeks. Once they confirmed they could get them for me, they said that it was "discontinued". I was STILL willing to get them, since I had a great experience with them AND COSTCO's price/service was better than anyone else's. The only drawback to buying "discontinued" tires is that IF something goes wrong with one of them (i.e. Road Hazard) and it needs to be replaced, I will be in a little pickle. I may have to resort to (two) different models. BUT, I'm willing to take that chance because of the great (81k) experience I had with them.

I would’ve taken the chance too and I agree with you on the Michelins as that’s what we've used in the past and of course, ONLY from Costco.
We do about 50/50, highway/city, so I’m hoping to get at least 60K or more out of these tires. We’re almost at 28K, which means hopefully another 3ish yrs.
It’s frustrating to find out a good product that works gets discontinued — did you happen to find out if they improved upon that particular tire and are calling it something else? Since you mentioned they’re discontinued, I thought about ordering some and keeping them in storage for when they’re needed. Michelin recommends replacing tires after 10 yrs from the date of manufacture, so I don’t know if that’d be a smart move as they’d have to be kept in ideal conditions.
If you don’t mind, as you seem to be well versed on the NX, I’d like to pick your brain on a couple things:
* What psi worked best for your Michelin tires and during what season(s)?
* Is there really NO WAY to switch the climate control temp from C to F? The outside temp and screen display is in F — it’s only the climate control temp. I’ve scoured the forums and tried all the googled DIY solutions, to no avail. There’s one video that shows a guy adjusting the C temp and then it shows him adjusting the F temp but it doesn’t show how he got it to switch from C to F!! Since my NX is from Canada, is it really hardwired to the country of destination? Most of the forums are on other models like the RX, LS, etc. and there is no solution but to switch out the MDU?? — can’t remember what the unit was called, but it sounded risky and you’d have to find the unit, pay for it and risk it messing up other features if installed. Our local Lexus dealer said there’s no way, but I just think they can’t be bothered. We went to another Lexus dealership (much better reputation) to have the running boards installed bc they quoted us a lot cheaper/half the price than what our local one quoted us. It was worth driving the 54 miles away for the discount, but I forgot to ask them about the switch from C to F. It’s hard to ask over the phone — I like to talk to the service guy/gal in person and just ask them on the side if they knew a way to do it. I’m hoping there’s a way for a 2020 NX as the ones in the forum seem to be discussing older different models. Please help, if you know a way…

I live in the northeast (New Jersey). Throughout the entire year, I keep the PSI at 33.
The instructions you're looking for are NOT in the (main) owner's manual. Instead, it is documented in the "Navigation and Mutimedia Systems Owner's Manual.
I will attempt to attach an excerpt from that manual to this posting. In case it doesn't work, here are the steps:
1. Press the "MENU" button on the REMOTE TOUCH (i.e. down by the touchpad, near your cup holder.
2. Select "SETUP".
3. Scroll down until you find "Unit of Temperature", and select it. Here it is!
Re switching temp from C to F — I can’t tell you how many times I’ve attempted what you suggested to no avail, but I thought let me try one more time…
Here are a couple pics — as you can see I’d already changed unit of temp to F but the climate control still displays in C.
I’ve even switched back to C then to F and still displays in C and in 2nd pic shows how outside temp displays in F.
Any other thoughts? Should I try rebooting system, disconnect battery, or anything that’ll update to F since I haven’t tried that after switching unit of temp to F? But… I honestly can’t remember when initially going to “Units of Temp” if it was already switched to F — hence the outside temp in F.
Please know — I greatly appreciate you taking the time to help me out!!
Switched to F but still shows Climate control display as C Outside temp displays in F

Please see my message above - I forgot to include your quote so I don’t know if you were notified of my reply to your suggestion on climate temp change…
Never mind — disregard my last message as I received yours. I didn’t mean to hijack this original post and apologize for doing so.

I seem to be having a problem with the private/direct messages!
This did NOT work for me. Changing from F to C only changed the display for the OUTSIDE temp. I would suggest you post a new item in this forum for this. I'm sure someone has encountered this before and might know how to fix it.

No, I got all your messages — I private messaged you my latest reply.
