Anyone hiring? B.S. Biology.
Hi guys, I've just moved back to San Jose recently and is having a hell of a time finding a job. I've searched all the job websites as well as going through a recruiter right now, but nothing so far. At this point I just want to work full time and start taking care of bills.
I've got a B.S. in Biology (more toward the molecular side). I've done 2 years of research in semiconducting organic polymers and was published recently as second author. I've managed a couple of businesses before so communication and stress is not a problem for me.
If anyone that could help me out I would be eternally grateful and will buy you lunch and beers .
Will

Not sure if I can be much help, but let me check with my wife. She has a friend that works at Genentech at a Lab Scientist.
Good luck with your searching. It's hard right now. When I was searching for a job, I was spitting out 20 resume per day. My wife was spitting out 50 resume per day whether position matched or not. As long as you get an interview, you got a chance.
Don't be afraid to take up something on the side to hold you over.

I currently am a full time regular employee at Genentech (been there since 2006) and I have to say, right now, the market is over-saturated with bio/chem degrees looking for jobs.
It's hard to find a regular full time job with a bio degree right now, unless you're willing to settle for a contract-to-hire position. There are a lot of temp agencies out there that are willing to hire you as a temp to big companies such as Genentech, BioRad, Amgen, etc...if you seriously need the money and don't want to pursue further education at the moment, you might want to consider settling for a temp job at the moment to at least get your foot in the door and network a little bit

Thanks you everyone for chiming in, I'm in a situation right now where I can't go back to school for at least another year. I was in my first semester of a graduate Biotechnology program before I had to go back to NorCal. Don't get me wrong, I love it here though.
I'm not picky at all with the jobs right now, I'd be happy just to work temp or permanent.
