Default Best way to fight a speeding ticket?

Greetings everyone,
Like the title say. I am in this ***** hole of a dilemma, got busted on LIE River Head Long Island heading towards Tanger Outlet. Cop said he clocked me at 95 MPH in a 55PMH zone.
I know that roadway is bombarded with lots of troopers, drove there many times but this time I couldnt locate the power outlet for my radar detector.
Coming to 5 minutes before I exit, my passenger stating she have to use the restroom, so I know the high way is coming to and end its the last exit off the LIE I figure what the hell let me step on it and BOOM there is the pig hiding behind the bush tagged me.

Anyhow my court date is January 18 of next year and I could use some advise/input on winning this ticket. Not looking forward in an increase in insurance premium or any more points on my record.
What can I say that might get me off?
Is it worth getting a lawyer?

Highly appreciate any respond.

Can you supply some more information? What agency was the officer with that gave you the ticket? SCPD/NYSP? What court is the ticket returnable to? Suffolk TVB or a local court? Is the ticket a handwritten yellow one or the newer typed ones on fax paper?

As far as the officer goes, I am not certain which agency he belongs too, dont recall him being in any trooper uniform.
The ticked itself is not returnable I have to show up to court w/ it in Riverhead Town (210 Howell Ave Riverhead). Its one of those handwritten orange/redish paper.

Obviously it's too late now, but you really need to get a PBA or FOP card!
Couple years ago, I was tooling along on Rt. 78 in NJ at 110+. I slowed down as I came over a rise but not enough. Was stopped by a trooper for doing 94 in a 65. When he came to the car he already had the ticket made out. Gave him my card along with license, etc. He ticketed me for failure to wear seatbelt instead.

He gave me more than an even break because fines are doubled in a 65 zone...

PBA card is like a deck of playing cards in Suffolk County. Follow NYAristo's advice and take defensive driving. Those points will be taken off in time. Invest in a good radar detector. Suffolk County does not play homie.

Default Get a Lawyer

Dude let me tell you story about my wife getting a ticket for doing 65mph on a 35 (this is in nassau) and my little girl at the time was 3 or 4 years old man she was all over that car seat never stay still anyway we got a ticket for that as well(no restriction of a child). Man you know how many points that was 9 points . I hire a lawyer he told me it was going to take sometime. The way they do it is they send the tickets and a not guilty plead and they give you a court day by this time you are taking your chances that the officer involved in the case is real busy and can never make to court to testify. Anyway dude 8 months later he came back with a good news and a bad news good news the tickets were dismissed , no points toward the license and bad news lawyers fee was $300.
