Hey guys,

I have a 98 SC 300 that has around 229k miles. I bought it with the intent of swapping a GTE motor and manual transmission down the road when the motor craps out on me, but I kind of want a manual transmission in it now. I was reading up on VVTi motors and swapping 5spds in them and apparently it requires some special work since Toyota didn't bolt those transmissions to the VVTi engines.

Does anyone around here have special experience with these? I'm not that mechanically inclined to swap a transmission, and I was wondering if any of you guys that have done this have reasonable labor rates for this. I could definitely provide a helping hand, but am willing to pay for your services.

Have you searched for manual swaps? Not trying to be nasty but I do know that a LOT of threads are here regarding that.

I've seen that before.. it's helpful and all. I have an entire W58 swap ready for my SC, but I'm looking for someone to install it for me. I can help, but I'm not too mechanically inclined.

 

is300 comes wth vvti 2jz and w55 5spd, i have it

so what you need is basically ecu, and trans out of manual is300(02 and up)

now they even have ways of turning the cel off w using resistors and solenoids from youre autobox
