Of course there will always be personal issues from time to time, but those can even be ironed out. I hope for the sake of the team any small rifts can be mended and we can get back to chillin and having fun.
Thanks D and thanks to those local and out of state alike for taking the time out of their Sunday afternoon to show up to this NYC centered roundtable. Good start here.. I know I arrived a bit late to the roundtable, but I am not late when it comes to the goings on in NELOC. Yes, what I touched on might have been redundant, boring, and some may have brushed it of as "the same ol ish I've heard already", but I wanted my points to resonate in the minds of all that were present. I have been a part of NELOC since the beginning, and I do not want this thing called NELOC to go down the tubes, especially the NYC contingent.. the focus of this roundtable. If you scroll down this particular forum, you will see a number of meets scheduled for MD, VA, DC, PA more so than NYC. Heck,a newb may browse for the first time and think that NELOC is centered in the above mentioned states. There is indeed stagnation in the NYC sector. We would not have this meet if there was not. This is not due to one or two people having a falling out off-line. It has more to do with what is being posted ONLINE as this is first and foremost and internet forum. The what you see is what you get adage may come to the minds of those who browse NELOC whether it be an idle OG or a newb.. What is posted will either turn one on or off to this forum folks. Ask yourselves, what made you join CL/NELOC?? Was it just to find friends? For me, I was looking to purchase some aftermarket parts to enhance my car, and stumbled on CL via google, joined, ordered parts, posted, went to eventful local meets, made friends, and the rest was history.. Remedy for the NYC contingent would be to have more eventful meets to garner interest for those joining for the first time. My first meet was not standing around with strangers looking at cars. It is those local eventful meets like the upcoming Rallye Event that GSoup set up that will garner to attend more meets locally and out of state. I have done so in the past with the Amsoil meets, driving event meets, and others to give NYC locals a feel for how this forum is like, how it will benefit them, and their vehicle. Make this forum less chat-roomish folks.. I know most of us are friends here.. We have yahoo or MSN for the non-essential sidebar stuff. Lets be more mature. This is all my opinion so take it as you may. I will do my best to post upcoming eventful meets for NYC to get back the enthusiastic climate we once had here in NYC

Good point Sean. I mostly agree with all that you said.
Dont know much on what was discussed at the meet because I came at the near end.
Had to rescue DJ TANTRA on the Van Wyck expressway who was suppose to be my ride. an adventure we had just getting to the meet… Rolling down the VW at 5MPH with your hazard on

I didnt get to make it to the meet to voice out my opinion but I do agree with everyone who has posted and voiced their opinion out. I havent come out much during the winter months but when it gets warmer Im definitely up to come out to meets eventhough i no longer own a lexus. Im sure what im about to say was probably covered at the meet but just in case it wasn't.

Here is my comment:

I think in order to attract new members image is definitely a priority. The way we treat our cars will definitely result in the type of members you attract. I remember when I first started attending the meets every members car was in pristine condition. My first thought was kind of overwhelming to see how well the cars were tastefully modified and how clean everyone kept their cars. Not every car was heavily modified but you can tell that the owners took care of their cars which I feel should be every members priority because why would you join a car club and represent them at a meet if you didnt care about your the appearance of your car.

The past year that I've came out to meets I feel like I've seen cars that didnt seem well taken care of. People just showed up for the sake of just going to a meet. Im not trying to say that you have to have your car modified to a certain standard but I feel that the owners are forgetting the simple things about taking care of their cars such as just taking your car to the car wash and just vacuuming the interior before commming out. I mean you wouldnt go to a job interview without a suit lol. Just wanted to point out the simple things. I personally wash and wax my car usually before i come out to every meet.

I think we have a close community with the old guys and I believe that setting the standard on how we treat our cars will reflect on how others come to the meets in terms of tasteful mods and just having your car look presentable and I also think that we should limit the meets to monthly meets and not have official weekly meets since a well organized meet seriously takes a lot of time to plan. Maybe we should also Sticky the official meets since everyone posts events on NELOC, Im sure not every member knows which meet is a legitimate meet. Seems like every other day someone is posting some sort of weekly meets even meets that arent Lexus related. There are corvette meets being posted in NELOC

I agree with Sean's last post. I think the mods should clean up the forum a bit just looks like there is too much going on that isnt lexus related or posts that dont seem to be of interest for Lexus Car Enthusiasts.

Just wanted to voice out my opinion, these are just my thoughts and I wasnt trying to offend anyone in anyway.

Yes, I could be settling down. I'm still not 100% convinced as she is, but her confidence in "us" is refreshing, I have to say.

Anyway, I'm as shocked as you are, D.

And hec, you know me, Derrick...I probably would have been at the NY Roundtable Meet or at least more of these upcoming meets locally, but having a damn girlfriend clouds the schedule BIG TIME. I'm like WTF? For now, she's making up for it...but she better keep that ish up. I already told her, "WE ARE GOING TO CARLISLE. Tickets bought, hotel reservations made."

Back on topic....Go NYC Go! Keep up the enthusiasm.
Trust me bro, if she has been able to effect THIS much change in you, she MUST be the one! I say go for it man. My 1 year anniversary is next weekend and so far its been great bro (little rough spot here and there but thats expected).

We'll talk soon

You know what Ming, that is such a basic thought, but at the same such a powerful one! We used to prep our cars like it was a HIN show or something, just for meets! LOL I even bought new wheels for my first big meet (and then my tranny went the morning I was going up there! )

I think thats something simple that we can adhere to, hell back in 06 we had a meet in Whitestone and I pulled in behind a building to "freshen up" the 7series and who pulls in afterwards to do the same thing? KEVINGS!!

It was funny as hell because we both were doing a quick wipedown around the corner, before we pullled in! (and then you pull in and act like "oh nah thats nothing bro, its actually a little dusty )

LOL man that pic is just TOOO funny! I better not let my wife see that, I may lose her to the original pimp!! (complete with gold jewelry!) lol

Man listen a hot car is a hot car bar none. I spent more time looking at Kev's 2GS down in DC that I did looking at my own Viper so cut it out with the peon stuff. Ur car's hot, enjoy it bro!

See you soon Andy

I think our cars were cleaner than the ones at HIN, by the time I joined Club Lexus I probably went to over 10 HIN shows and never seen Lexus cars modified so tastefully and clean! Derrick I remember seeing your Gold GS for the first time with the IForged rims, I was never a wheels person until i saw my reflection when i saw you driving by on the way to that meet in Jersey with the BMW's that got cut short due to rain.
