WOW ... interesting thread. i grew up in Harlem 70-90's and you gave me such flashbacks of when I was growing up and made me realize that the kids nowadays have no clue how hard it was for us. I use to run around in abandon buildings like those in the pictures when I was a kid. When I was growing up there was some serious siht going down everyday in my neighborhood.

Thanks for sharing that.
... I need publishing monies... I was in one of those pictures... ... ***kid washing windows @ the NB/EB Jerome Exit off the Cross Bronx Expy... damn I've been real into cars for a long time*** I grew up 2 blocks from there....
Wow.. it's ill how my old neigborhood was featured in a few of those pics... crazy...
I agree with Carlos... it was normal living back then... like taking the train with graffiti all over place and the lights going out every few minutes... and people still read their newspapers/books without complaining...
Thanks for sharing... brings back memories from playing manhunt thru the abandoned buildings...
Ahhh man I remember Windbreakers and my first pair of name brand sneakers. blue suede Pumas/white fat laces in 1984... begged my mom to buy me a pair for $29.99.
I used to have the old Lasonic (i think), with the built in motion alarm! Oh, the days of boomboxes and folded up cardboard!
Dayummm tu took the words right out of my mouth. I knew a guy that had a boom-box with a alarm on it. My favorite thing was watching them replace the batteries. "Yo yo yo, lemme get 20 'D' batteries for my joint-ski" LOL
I remember my first pair of addidas with fat laces, my first Coca - cola shirt, and my fathers MB450 SLC from these days.
My grand dad had a 380SEL at the same time, I thought my family was RICH! (Oh to be 6 years old and stupid)
