Wow, I really can't think of much more to say. The only answer I can come up with is stupidity on the part of the driver/owner.

I never even considered either of these options. I figured he has a set of track wheels and tires and forgot to tighten the lugs.

that is exactly why i don't like switching tires before autocross cause this could happen. What I was reading is that the guy used the wrong set of lugs which would thread up but not hold too much load. Still stupidity of driver like bernie said, and I still like the rx-7 great car
