Description:

I'm the second owner of this mint condition 1999 Lexus GS400. I'm a die hard car enthusiast and bought it 2002 from the first owner. Its been upgraded over the years with several high quality parts - wheels, suspension, exhaust, differential etc as I'm an automotive enthusiast.

Price shown is in Canadian Dollars

The car has been babied since I got it, NEVER winter driven and has only 156K kilometers on it or 97K miles

Major Upgrades on the car: Big Brake kit - 14 inch rotors - StopTech big brake kit (in front, and stock brakes in rear)
Upgraded exhaust with the elimination of the resonator - it sounds like a proper V8 car now
Limited slip differential from a Toyota Supra with a higher gear ratio
High stall speed torque convertor 20 inch high quality INDIVID LOGIC wheels with 245/35 in front and 275/30 in rear
Custom stereo install with Google Tablet in dash and Kenwood stereo Head Unit
No rips/tears in the seats
H&R lowering springs and shocks
New engine starter installed last year
Timing belt changed at 96K km
New battery two years ago.
QUAD HID projector Bi-Xenon headlights with custom DRL LED's as shown in one of the pictures

The car is FULLY FULLY loaded as it comes from the factory with everything power operated, heated leather seats, mirors, power doors, windows and seats.

No test pilots please - and I will NOT ship it anywhere.

The car has had one accident claim and the car was repaired at Jays Auto Collision in Etobicoke to the highest standards and looks and drives like a brand new car.

I've received a couple of inquiries about the car and decided to write up a summary here that my ad doesn't necessarily answer:
  1. Full details of every single mod I have done to the car is documented in agonizing detail on my build thread here that I started 16 years ago (a couple of months after I bought it from a local dealer - it was 4 years old and had just gone out of the OEM warranty) - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/bui...eb-2003-a.html
  2. The car has never been driven in the winter/salty conditions and this has been my "toy" ever since I bought it as I had fully intended to never sell it when I bought it back in Nov. 2002. I can't believe its been 17 years now. Consequently the mileage is much below average as its driven occasionally and only in the summer - 156,000k km or just under 100k miles. As a current Lexus owner, you will know that these cars - and even more so the GS series from that era were built literally like tanks. It is pretty much indestructible and if you end up buying it and keeping it for a while, it will outlive you.
  3. The car drives and feels like a new car - only better as it does not "float" like it did when it rolled off the assembly plant in Tahari, Japan. I can't even begin to list all the upgrades I've done to the car - please review the list in the URL i linked above to see what you'd be getting if you end up buying it.
  4. There is not a single defect or component that is not working or is broken. It is in absolutely mint condition and shows/displays amazingly well.
  5. As mentioned in the ad, some stupid teenager drove into the car head on back in 2016 when I just come home and had to park it temporarily on the road in front of my house while I moved my wifes car off the driveway so that I could park it in the garage (its garaged all the time, never left outside). The details of the accident are also listed in build thread with very detailed and tons of photos showing how it was restored by a very high end collision repair shop. The shop basically bought another GS, and swapped out the front bumper, fenders hood from the donor car and I had the whole car painted so that it would come out perfect. My mechanic can't even tell the car has been in an accident either by looking in the engine compartment or under the car.
  6. Your next question is probably going to be, if there was frame damage. No there was no frame damage - had there been, I would not have bothered to repair the car as I refuse to let me or my family's safety be compromised by driving around in a car that has had its structural integrity compromised. The collision shop that repaired the car would not have repaired the car either if the structural integrity had been compromised in any way.
  7. Why am I selling the car now? Its actually very simple - my circumstances have changed and I can no longer have a winter beater (for the winter) and the Lexus. I have downsized (paying less insurance and gas) and its with a heavy heart I have to let the Lexus go, as I simply don't have the heart to drive it in the harsh winters we have in Ontario and subject the car to all the salt they dump on our roads every winter. I need a car that I can drive all year round. If the car doesn't sell over this summer, I will simply park it and have to negotiate with my wife to use her car the twice a week commute to the office (or Uber if necessary).
  8. Are you familiar with the process of importing a car into the US? I have no idea what the process is or how simple/difficult it might be. I know Canadians who have moved to the US that have taken their cars there, but I don't know what its like for a US resident to import a car from Canada. I'd recommend you look into that a bit before you spend more time on this, just in case it's not worth your while and time.
  9. I'm not interested in a trade-in as I have decided I will buy an electric car - so unless you have a pre-April 2015 build 2015 Tesla Model S P85D, I'm not really interested in any other trade in.

Default Wow!

This car sounds absolutely stunning. I am in Pennsylvania. Any way you can send a picture of the manufacturer label. I am not sure if i need that or the VIN to see if it was manufactured for US market. Apparently it has to meet NHTSA and EPA standards. If it does, and it is still for sale, i am interested.

I'll send you the VIN via PM now. It's still for sale and was manufactured for the Canadian market (which has a few more requirements than some US states such as the Daytime Running Lights). Where is the manufacturer label?

I think the label is usually on the driver side door or jamb.

Sent.

I have another potential buyer here and want to know how serious you are as the other buyer seems to be the most serious so far from the dozen or so inquiries I've received so far.

Hameed,

My steps are: research what is needed to import a car from Canada, determine if this specific car is OK to be owned in USA (proper title, etc.) and if all clear see what my wife thinks. So, any one that offers you what you want (first come first serve) should get the car. I have a 2003 ES with 270K on it. Still runs good. So I don't NEED a car right now. Your vehicle, since it is custom, would be a WANT. Whatever is meant to be will be. I appreciate your quick response. It will be a good learning experience for me, because I never considered looking outside the US for a car before.

peace,
art
