Default STP - Gas Treatments

I just had a question...

You know those Red bottles of STP gas Treatments? Does anyone ever use these or are these a waste of money? I dont know if these cleaners would be more harmful than helpful to my ES300. Please give me your two cents!

Default Consider Chevron Techron

Dunno about STP gas treatment, but I know a lot of people here swear by the Chevron Techron fuel cleaner treatment (w/ Concentrate). I've used it on both of my ES; it's probably the best kind of fuel treatment around. You can get that at Pep Boys, Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, etc. I don't believe Wal-Mart sells it.

it is a waste of money if you buy the bottles of it, just go get gas at chevron and it has all the cleaners already in the gas.

I agree but here in New England, there's no sign of a Chevron station The only ones that I've seen are out in California and Florida. Maybe I oughta move out there...

most of the big oil companies put some sort of cleaner in there gas. The driver adds the concentrate to the tanker before he fills it up the rig at the depot. All the initial gas is the same, the additives are what makes each brand a little different or special.

Chevron stations are few and very far between in New England. The bottles at the store are a concentrate to deliver an immediate cleaning and a little profit to the big oil companies again. I have to agree with Doug, I have had the best results with synthetic Chevron w/Techron fuel injector cleaner. about $7-$10 per bottle depending on where you get it. I have used everything from Chevron to Gunk to STP to Citgo name brand.

I put a bottle in my tank every other oil change.
