I have a chip the size of a dime on my NX windshield and wondered if anyone knows whether a repair would be sufficient with regard to Lexus lease requirement or whether the entire windshield needs to be replaced. I can’t find this specifically addressed in the lease contract and LFS didn’t seem to know either. If anyone has any experience in this regard, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Take it to a glass shop and see if they can repair it. If they can fix it. If you have to replace the windshield under the lease terms do it just before you return it in case you get another big chip...providing this one is repairable.
rock chips are a normal part of life here in Canada and if they are repaired well enough then we do t have to buy a mew windshield. Not sure the terms In your jurisdiction.
in any case I’d repair it quickly before it runs and becomes more of a mess.
Some states have a deductible for full glass replacement, but will pay for chip glass repair as long as it has comprehensive collision.
Many times there is no need to call your insurance, just call a reputable repair shop( not going to mention so am not flagged as spam), and they will check for you.
I had a chip on my glass
the size of a penny, I put packing tape on both sides to hold the crack until I took it to the shop.
They did a fantastic job, is barely noticeable, my friends thought the glass was replaced. On most cases the lease will not notice if done right. The crack on the attached pic, is gone. It is filled under pressure w special glue.
Note: depending where the crack is and sometimes how experienced the tech is, it may crack all the windshield, very rare but can happen.
