Transmission Flush/Change?
Drain and Fill every 15k always works well for my driving habits. City cars that do alot of stop and go will burn transmission fluid quick at 10k. A good indication how a car is driven is front brake pad wear and rotor color/condition.
it's not as easy on newer cars to just drain and fill, you need a scan tool and special equipment on many newer cars with sealed transmissions....
question... i have a 97 Sc400 204K :/ duno if the trans fluid has been changed.. having some down shifting problems.. does it here and there.. been told if i change the fluid i'm gonna start more problems or start slippage.. some people say use some lucas... what should i do??
My recommendation is not to do a POWER flush. This is when new ATF is pushed through the transmission at pressure. Rather, do several drain and fills over a few months, or go someplace that uses a T-Tec (sp?) machine that basically replaces all the fluid in the trans using the transmission's own pressure.
Skip the Lucas and get some high mileage ATF and change it all out.
No ATF lasts 100k miles. Those lifetime ATF's (MB from my own experience) do not last and they needed to be changed out by 50k. I've always changed ATF atleast by the 30k mark.
