I just need to be able to lift a corner and fit a jack stand underneath to either swap wheels, or do a brake job. Plus would like to bring this to track days, so portability is a plus.

I only have an IS350, so I figure something like this would work?
Side bonus:
My roommate has a 4runner, and I guess this wouldnt work? He was explaining to me that he needs to be able to lift an axle on each corner, and thats something Im not familiar with. Would this get the job done for swapping wheels?

You'd need a big, bulky, chiropractor's-best-friend jack to lift up a 4runnnnnnnner.

I have that one and it struggles hard to lift an AWD LS460s tire off the ground. It will not lift up the car high enough to place a jack stand underneath.

 

Yeah, I was just looking at it, and it only goes uo 13.5 inches - a GX/4Runner needs more lift than that!

 

Guess a full on floor jack is the only way to go

 

if you are having problems getting the jack to slide underneath the car, place a couple 2x4's in position where the front / rear tires can drive up on them. This will give you a little more clearance. It will be a tall order to find a jack that works on both your IS and a 4 runner.
