Default High Mile Vehicle Oil Changes ?

Hi i am wondering if anyone here uses and or agrees with the High Mile Oils i see that companys like valvoline have high mile oils that they claim have adetives that help prevent leaking or helps renew seals and that
does anyone use this kind of oil or do you think its jut a gimic to get extra money ?
i have a 2007 Lexus es350 with 227k miles on it. there is a small sepage thats been coming form the valve cover gasket for about a year now and the service advisor when i asked if i should get it fixed he gave me the price of what it would cost but he said just switch to a high mile oil perhaps that would help renew the seals perhaps he didnt want to see me spending 1500 bucks to do this job i guess he is a good guy.
i currnetly use a full synthetic oil whenever i get oil changes every 4500-5000 miles
so will this do anyting to help ?
i don't want to add any kind of engine stop leaks i dont like stop leak stuff i had some bad times iwth stop leak stuff before i knew what it actualy was and it causedmore damage to my engine but im ok adding something that claims it helps renew or refresh just aslong as it doenst claim to stop leaking
wondering perhaps is it seeping out because im using a full synthetic oil ?

Oil additives are highly debated, not my choice. Valve cover gaskets and similar seals are becoming hard after all the heat cycling of these miles. The long term fix if you intend to keep the car is to replace the valve cover gaskets. At the 200K service interval I had the valve cover gaskets, shift selector shaft seal along with other rubber bits changed out. No oil leakage and I continue to use the regular Mobil 1 synthetic.

For a temporary you may re-torque the valve cover fasteners in the event they have loosened up.

It's not leaking because you use synthetic oil. It's leaking because the engine has 227k miles on it and the VC gaskets are getting worn out. You can use high mileage advertised oil without problem just like any other current synth/non-synth motor oil, but it likely won't fix your problem. VC gaskets deteriorate over time and flatten out. High mileage oil is not going to fix that, but you've got nothing to lose by trying. Just put the high mileage oil in at your next oil change and see what happens, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

thank you i wouldnt use extra oil adatives just because it says this but some oiles actualy claim to have a chemical or compond that is formulated into it that helps to renew the seals but wondering if this is real cause this is with some of the bigger ones like the high mile oiles that are for mobil1 and valvoline both claim they refresh and renew seals for high mile vehicles and wondering about this if anyone uses high mile oils or if its a waste of money
like im maybe going to by a new car in the next 6 to 12 months most liekly so i dont want to go spending like 1000 to 1500 to do the valve cover gaskets on a car that ill probalby only get like 2-2500 on trade in since the miles are so high

what would be a resonable price to exspect to pay for the VC gaskets on the 07 ES350 like the lexus dealership wants like around 1500 after taxes and all
like i guess im trying ot figure out how come they want so much they never said anyting about major labor time for like removal so why would it be so much.
what would i end up paying for this ? like should i look for a toyota delaership ? or is it still going to be the same

The oil companies pour lots of $ into research for their products. To me the claims are optimistic as old is old. The VC gaskets split when I bent them lightly, they were brittle and they began allowing seepage at 170K.

The cost for the VC gaskets was $632. This was one of the procedures done when the timing belt interval came up. The independent shop I use comes in about 20-30% less than the dealer's quotes. Ours at best is maybe $2,700 in value, we like the car that the maintenance was acceptable.

Here is what the parts cost. The rest is labor and price gouging.
