Default Stupid ? Re windshield wiper inserts

I ordered new wiper inserts online. The passenger side insert is about 1/2 inch too long. I don't want to go through the hassle of returning it. Will I have any problems if I snip a 1/2 inch off the non-head end? I realize this means the metal supports could slide out but I'm assuming once the inserts are installed, there shouldn't be too much moving/shifting of the inserts or the metal supports, right?

Can I ask where you ordered from? I never thought about ordering wiper inserts instead of just going to autozone and buying new wipers.

I ordered them from the CL vendor, mylparts.com. I ordered 2 sets, one for my 2006 GS430 and the other for my 2009 ES350. The driver's side for both cars were correct but neither passenger side was right. For the GS, the passenger side wouldn't fit -- it was too wide, so for that one they are sending me the correct one. For the ES, it fits but it's about a 1/2 inch too long. I suppose I could call them and have them send out the right one for that car, but it's too much of a hassle.

And yes, next time I will go to Autozone or straight to the parts window at the dealership. Dumb on my part.

inserts are much cheaper and just as good/if not better than the bosch icons that cost at least twice as much. I don't see why there would be an issue with trimming, im willing to bet they're cut at the factory to be the length you got them at.

Buying just the rubber inserts is the way to go. I would get them from the dealer. They are less expensive, and are superior to aftermarket wipers.
I live here in the PNW, our wipers get a lot of exercise. I change the inserts only on all my Toyota products.
