I have a problem with my A/C I already done the code and it gave me a 12....... then I ran it and I heard the Commpressor come on... but it does not get cold and the tank is chraged cause I went to the shop today and they said it was full.... can any1 help me i have a sc400 92

 

You need to connect a set of gauges and see what your high and low preasures lines are running at. Two things that might be wrong, a clogged expansion valve or a bad compressor.

 

Thank you beab951, for responding Yeah.. I got that checked today and.. they said that they think i have a clogged expansion valve. and that I'm going to need to replace the dryer also. but just the expansion is going to cost 1000.00!!!! on a 92.... Lord help me what esle can i do to lower the price why did it go out and can i just replce the dryer only?

 

Over a period of time moisture and dirt can entering your AC system and clogged up the expansion valve. I think they're doing the Evaporator too because the expansion valve mounted on the Evap. On the SC400 where the AC lines go inside the car is very tight spot because the ABS/Trac actuator is mounted near by( look on the passenger side of the firewall). Plus the R12 freon is very expensive.

 

Happened to my mothers 99 SC they flushed the entire system filled up the freon. A week later it didnt work. We brought it back we fought with them quite alot and finally got them to repair it free after paying the first time and it was the lines that were leaking~! Sometimes the dealer doesnt even know. They are still working on it my mom had had the 01 Loaner since thursday night and she's not complaining!!

 

BTW: They had a brand new 03 ES300 with a/c that didn't work how sad

 

Find out the pressure reading on High and Low side then I will tell you what is wrong with it. Sometimes if put too much free-on it doesn't cool either. If it is the expansion valve it wouldn't cost that much to replace. You looking at 5 -6 hrs of labor from the dealer.
