Default Engine mounts

My 90 LS 400 is running well but I have no idea when the engine mounts have last been changed. I don't necessarily notice any excessive noise or vibration but maybe if I change them the ride will be even that much smoother.

1. What will I notice when they are changed out?
2. How many are their on a 90 LS 400?
3. Is it a difficult job? How long does it take?
4. Has anyone bought some from Steve Ganz at Carson T.? If so how much are these mounts? I called Steve but they said he is on vacation.

Thx, D.K.

Default Hello DK

Just had my motor mounts and tranny mount replaced in my 90 LS400 with 232K miles.Parts were purchased from Carson Toyota (speak to Gordon if Ganz is unavailable) engine mounts were 89.77 each and the tranny mount was 50.00 approx 20% off retail.Difference was very noticable as vibration through the steering wheel when in drive has disappeared (is the engine even running?) Book labor is 1 hour per side for the engine mounts and .6 hour for the tranny mount.IMO if the mounts in your car are original then replacing them should make an obvious improvement.HTH!

Bradster,
Thanks for the great info, I am sure I also need to get my mounts replaced but have just been waiting until I have enough cash to pay it. Here's what I'm wondering, why is it that everyone on this board seems to buy their parts from Carson Toyota, isn't that in Cali, why not just go to your local Toyota dealer? If I go over to my local Toyota dealer's parts department they can get them right? I know this probably sounds like a dumb question, but all I've been hearing lately is Carson Toyota......

Earl!

Default A good source for Lexus parts...

is Bell Lexus in Arizona 602-866-3300 X6100 David is the guy to speak to-also about 20% off retail.I've purchased small items from my local Toyota dealer but i pay full retail price which is not a problem for a 30.00 or 40.00 part even paying local sales tax.But when i ordered 700.00 from Bell Lexus in parts the savings added up.You should look around to a find a shop willing to install the mounts at less than book labor time (we all know that the labor usually is much less than book) a local place charged me 65.00 to replace all 3 mounts (i supplied the parts)

Default Mounts

Wow!!

Just took a look at my replaced motor mounts and they were totally split in two!! Bradster hits the nail right on the head as far as noticeable improvements.

Got the Parts from Carson, & this is a 94 LS with 153,515 miles.
