Default Individual side view mirror part?

Note: ill be posting this both in both the ES300 and Maintenance Forums.

Hi,
First of all, i own a 2002 ES300 (if u didnt care to look at my name yet). I dont know how it happened, but a couple a weeks ago, my passenger side view mirror broke off. the mirror itself is still intact, along with the wire for the heated mirror (the wire is the only thing holding the mirror to my car). the thing that broke is the plastic piece that holds the mirror to the casing (it is white). half of it is missing. a few days ago, i took my car to the dealer for some servicing and they told me it would cost almost $500 for them to order a whole new side veiw mirror (the casing and all the internals). $500?!! everything is still working exept for that lil piece.

I am wondering if there was anywhere i could get the piece that broke, rather than spending $500 on a whole new mirror assembly. and as for posting a pic, i didnt even think of taking one before, but at this moment, my car is still at the dealer. or any other ideas? Thanks.

Edit: i want to clarify what has broke. its the part behind the mirror, that holds the mirror in place.

Call Carson Toyota, they should be able to get it for you for around $390 or so (20% discount off retial price of $462.31)--this is for a painted mirror assembly (everything included). However, I'd check first to see if you can just get the plastic housing instead of buying everything else, as you just need the housing.

You can get their 800 number below:

www.carsontoyota.com

Also, if you have to get a new mirror assembly, be sure to save the old mirror as they have heating elements and electrochromic elements in it--each mirror is about $240 each! Save it just in case one of your mirrors dies in the future.

That happened to me as well on my ES. A car coming towards me clipped my mirror while we were leaving a funeral and glass shattered everywhere.

Since I needed the housing and the Mirror, it cost me about $300 I beleive. I installed it myself.
