Default New Mounts Fitted

Made up an engine holding frame and dropped the front cross member and fitted 2 new engine mounts , left one was in 2 pieces and the right one was almost in 2 pieces , did the tranny mount as well and it also was in 2 pieces .
Wasn't a difficult job as I was on the hoist , the next one will only take about 2 hours .
Simon was very pleased and even just driving the car out from the hoist he could feel how much more betterer it was and the total lack of any vibration !!
Will do mine next and then about another 6 cars after that !!

did the bad mounts look fine just by looking at them, or is there a way to tell that they are bad?

You certainly can't tell from looking at them , the tranny mount would be easier to work out as it would be not too difficult to lever up the back of the G/Box to see if it lifts off the mount and you could do the same with the engine mounts , but access is not so easy .
however all that is really not neccessary , I believe the service time for these is 140,000 kilometers and if you can " Feel " the engine AT ALL then it's time !!
This car has nealy 200,000K's and is 16 tears old !!
Well overdue .

Had my LS up on a rack at JPI one day & Jason Phan had no problem spotting a broken motor mount.

With the broken mounts, did the motor visually flop around when you put it in gear, like raise up or show torque? I like the idea of supporting the motor from the top and dropping the crossmember, I did my Mopar V8 Valiant the same way, a 4X4 across the inner fenders and through bolts down into the intake manifold carb mount. 1UZFE is a little different...

richonenz,

Would you mind doing a quick write-up? I'm going to change all 3 mounts soon.

Thanks
