Is WD-40 bad??
i have a new '04 RX330 with a slightly "skipping" sunroof. when you open and close it, you can hear and see it jittering down the track. it's a slight jitter, and it doesn't interfere with the proper opening and closing of the sunroof.
but it bugs me!! dealer saw it and said it looked normal compared to other '04 RX's, but i don't quite buy it. i traded in an '01 RX and have an '01 GS4 and the moonroof is smooth as butter. the new moonroof that Lexus is using is slightly different, with side accordion "skirts" to prevent water from getting in on the sides when it is titled, but other than that, i don't think it's any different.
so my question is - is using WD-40 myself going to make it worse? or should i try some other kind of lubricant? or does anyone else have other suggestions??
thanks!

for starters, WD40 is actually a solvent, not a lubricant. If you use it, it may be a temporary fix, but you will have to use it again and again and again.
Go to the dealer, line up two RX330s (yours and one at random) side by each. Compare the motion while standing in between the two. If yours is noticably wrong, the dealer has to fix it. It may be a bent/pinched track or a binding roller. Lexus prides themselves on customer satisfaction, get them to fix or replace it. It is brand new.
If you put any kind of lubricant (lithium grease, white grease, TriFlow) it is going to attract and hold dirt and debris and then look blackish. This dirt and grime will eventually become a hinderance and impeed motion of the sunroof.
keep after the dealer to resolve the situation to YOUR satisfaction, not theirs.
