Just recently when I try to close my sunroof on my 2000 LS it reopens to the half way spot, but not all the time. Today I decided to tilt the roof, and now it's stuck in the tilt position and wont close at all. Has anyone ever had this happen and if so whats the solution...

My RX300 was making grinding noises for about a week or two when operating the sunroof and it would get stuck in the tilt position. It's now completely stuck in the tilt position. I had a mechanic look at it and said the pully assembly needs replaced because the plastic cable is binding and you cannot buy just the cable. Lexus is quoting about $2,100 for the part alone and a mechanic is quoting about $500-$600 in labor. I have researched the net and this seems to be a somewhat common issue and I think a bulletin was issued for a model other than the RX. I also found where someone said they disassembled theirs, cleaned the tracks and pullies then relubricated and it's worked fine. If you find a solution, I'd like one too!!

I sprayed(WD-40) the sunroof rails, and those little L shaped arms from inside the car.Let it soak for about an hour then repeatedly try to close the sunroof by pushing the proper button and pushing down on the sunroof glass(I did it by myself,would have been easier with another person).Now it works better than new....

wen i bought my 1jz 92 sc 300 i opened the sunroof tilt to test it out and the right corner of it is stuck open but the other side is down its really weird and annoying i have to put a towel up there so my car doesnt get soaked wen it rains ne one kno how to solve this prob?
