Cooling fan problem
I have a problem with my 98' GS300. when I turn the key the fans start running immediately even if the car has even been driven. I shut-off the car because I do not want to burn out the motors. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
umm.... not sure if i understand what you saying. if i put my key in, put it in stage 2 (there are 3 stages, where stage 3 you will turn on the engine) and the a/c will start working and blowing air?

Try checking you temperture sensor or check you main engine relays. There is usually a relay that controls the fans. I had a similar problem with one my Toyotas and it ended up being the relay.
i having a same problem with my 2000 gs4 cooling fans, both of them start running when i turned the key to 2 stage, i know its not normal but just dont know what happened, i already check all the relays even that main engine relay where close with the battery but i still couldnt fine any problem with it, i will check the temp sensor later but i dount it cus...... when i unplug the sensor cornecter the fans still running, unless its just how is it,
if anyone have this problem b4 and been fixed so please let me know
thanx alot

I have seen this happen a few times. On Toyotas( and Lexus) cars the fans will come on with the key if the fan temp sensor switch is bad or not connected. You can always check the temp sensor with a multimeter and some warm water .If the sensors circuit is open all the time that is your problem. This way if the sensor is bad it keeps the car from over heating and blowing your head gaskets.
I think the temp. sensor at bottom of your radiatio is disconnected,. I've seen a few of this problems when the customer went for an oil change at some quick lube shop. First thing they do is disconnect the temp. sensor, turn the key on and now your fan is running all the time to cool down the engine and make it easier to get to the oil filter without burning their arms.
