Default coolant flush now???

he yall ..ok so the Lexus mechanic told me to flush the coolant on my 2000Es300 which has 100,000 miles..so i was wondering should i change it now? and how can i tell if the coolant in the tank is dirty or not? i have never changed it yet. He said it should be changed every 60,000miles.

Have you ever replaced your timing belt/water pump combo? If so, then youve already changed the coolant. If not, i would certainly recommend looking into it soon, your car is 11 years old, its due.

Yes, change your coolant. If your waterpump was not done when the timing belt was changed, I would have that done next time your timing belt is due, which for your car (I believe) is every 80,000 miles. What is strange to me with Lexus Service Intervals (Always has been strange), is that the Coolant cnanges and Timing belt/waterpump intervals do not seem to coincide. They want you to change your coolant at 60k, then they have to drain it and replace it AGAIN at 80k to do the TB/WP. In my professional opinion, if you change your coolant when you do your timing belt/waterpump, you should be ok.

Actually, it makes perfect sense. The water pump does not have a service interval... We CHOOSE to replace it because the labor to replace it is the same as timing belt labor, but, we are typically replacing these thousands of miles or years before they will actually wear out...

You are right, LOL, I stand corrected. You just always hear (on this forum) them being changed together, and I have always reccomended it on a pump driven by timing belts, so that fact actually never entered my mind.

Toyota red fluid coolant last 5 years/100k miles any ways. I don't change the coolant until i do the timing belt/water pump.
