Default Popping noises when turning steering wheel

In my '91 LS, when I turn the steering wheel to turn left, I hear two popping noises that sound very much like the popping noise that's made when I pull the lever to release the gas lid. So the sounds not from the interior of the car.

I hear this noise mainly when I'm making a quick left turn...when I'm turning the wheel I'll hear a faint "pop pop".

It's been like this for a while. Any clue what it could be?

Y'know, I hear something like this on my 92 SC when I'm turning in to my parking space at home. Almost like I drove over a flattened soda can or clipped an object on the right side. I'm curious about this, too.

I'll be at the one in Los Angeles, but if you read the fine print, there will be NO cars this year. Just one day of class. Sucks!

Devildog - So as a Lexus tech, which do you recommend? The halogen fluid or the regular fluid? It's time to top off my headlights!

The Halogen fluid is the best! It also works great for lubing the muffler bearings and helps quit the loose nut behind the steering wheel!

LOL

I just had the popping noise on my car diagnosed: loose link rod that was too worn out to be tightened.

Hope that helps.

RalAegidius,
Thanks for the diagnosis. I'll be heading to the dealer when it's time for next oil change. How much did it cost to replace the loose link rod?

*checks receipt from auto mechanic*

The link assembly part cost $64.00. I can't guess at the labor since it was folded into about 2 days of other work they did on my car.
