Default 93 ls400 cluster lights and gas gauge

This morning when I started my car, all the lights in my cluster weredead and it took close to abou a minute before they came back on. It was pitch black and then started flickering before they came on. And idk why but my gas gauge is always low when I know I still have gas in it. And when I don't even drive too much and start my car, it always says I'm low on gas. Does anyone know how to fix it? And has this happened to anyone?

Gas gauge being inaccurate - there are all sorts of things that can cause this...

As far as the cluster lights - are we talking the needles or the whole thing?

I would say it's the circuit board in the cluster. That's normally what we sell to fix the problem of all the lights being out. Not sure about the gas gauge. Problem is the circuit board retails for nearly $1000.

Can't you just pick up a used cluster and swap the whole thing or whatever parts you need?

Search these problems on the web. Both are common issues. I did the repair on my cluster last winter. There are two capacitors that need to be changed. You can buy a variety pack of capacitors at Radio Shack for $4. One capacitor controls the backlight and needles. Over time this capacitor begins to fail. When it gets cold outside the capacitors becomes faulty and will not work until the car heats up. Then it will be fine until the car is cold again. Easy swap, once the cluster is out just cut the old one out and solder a new one in its place.
Same process with the fuel gauge. My gauge would only read up to about 1/4 of a tank, even when full. Swapped out that capacitor and problem solved for good!!
