While hitting the gas hard today the oil light turned on for a brief moment and then turned off. Should I be worried? I get my oil changed every 3000 miles and it has been 1500 since my last. Does this happen to you guys sometimes or should I have my car checked out? I have never noticed it before if it does happen and I think I would know.

 

Check the oil level. If it is low and you hit the gas hard, it will cause a momentary oil starvation and consequently oil pressure drop which will make your oil light lit up. During hard acceleration, the already low level of oil will further drop down as a result of oil moving towards the back portion of the pan.

 

I will check but it should be fine. I had an oil change 1500 miles ago and I am not burning oil.

I just want to make sure the car is cherry before the rest of the mods are in.
