Default GS400 Oil Change

Hello all,

I would usually bring my car out to a shop to do my oil change, but this time i want to do it for myself to save a dollar or two.

Does anyone know what kind of oil i should put in and how many qtrs? What type of oil as in 10/30? What's the best oil and oil filter for my car as well.

I have done oil change for other cars. So, this is not a first time for me.

Truth be told you won't save much dough but some of the stuff you need is reusable

Oil - I run 5w30 Full synthetic in Socal. Mobil 1, Syntec, Redline, Royal Purple and Amsoil are all good full synthetics. Using a synthetic allows for a longer interval (7-10k) if you want

You can also run a Syn/Normal Oil blend to save money.

Get a OEM filter and soak it in oil before installing it back in.

To be real, I think they use normal oil which i don't want. I rahter do it myself and know what i'm putting in and at the same time i can look at other stuff while i change my oil.

Sounds good, and how many qrts do i need to put it in. Some people say 5.5 another say 6. I rather use synthetics oil.

I just purchase my own oil from Sams club or wal-mart get 5 qt for about 25 bucks full synthetic brand name and get a 2$ oil filter. Just go to a shop give them like 8 bucks oil changed and you saved about what 20-30$. No reason to waste time and get all messy at home when someone with a lift will do it in 5 min. And if you are really **** just ask if you could watch while they do it.
