IS it common for the electronic dash assembly to go out every few years. I just bought a 1990 LS 400 and the dealership is raping me for $2200 tax inc. Has anyone else had difficulty with this? Thanks in advance.

Dude - what is bad on it? Lights out? Check around for some bulbs, get a manual and DIY. Good luck. Or check with an electronics store. Unless it is guages.

 

They say that it's the chip or something in the dash assembly itself. I guess the part is supposed to be $1300 alone. Labor an Tax equals about $2200.00. I love the car but I'm pissed.

 

What exactly went out? I have heard of LS400 gauge illumination problems. Somthing about the printed circuit board. Sounds like a dealer only problem to me.

 

The part that was the curcuit board on the dash assembly. It is only a dealer part and guess what? They could'nt find one in the U.S. so they are doing all new guage and all for the same rediculous price of the dash assembly. Man I love this car but I hope this doesn't happen to me again in the next few years.

 

My 91 LS400 speedo needle went half dark.
Im goin to get a quote on a salvage unit
out of 90-93 LS400. Then have a pro put it in.
I could call the dealer, but they screwed me in the past.
