how can you tell if the window "motor" or "regulator" that need to be replaced ?
My rear (drive side) window 03 Es300 been stop working for a while, I heard the click / 'thick' sound from the main or that door button when it pressed, but the window didn't go down. So how can you tell if it's the "motor" or "regulator" that need to be replaced / fixed ?
And anybody have a diagram of opening the inside door panel ? I think any kind of Lexus' door diagram should be similar....
thanks in advance!

You disconnect the cable from the motor and test the connector with a multimeter. If there is signal/voltage when you press the button, then the motor is most likely shot. If there is none, then you gotta start troubleshooting your way up. However that isn't to say there may be a mechanical problem. On my brother's Acura legend, the passenger side window doesn't work because the arms are bent

The click you are hearing is from the relay built into the switch. I can pretty much say that you have a bad window motor. Sometimes on the older ES300's the window can actually get stuck in the moulding.. get a friend, and with the door open, put a palm on either side of the glass, pushing downward, while another person hits the down button.. sometimes this can free it up. If that doesnt work, id order a motor.

My regulator (today actually haha) made a nice crunchy sound as it died. Sounded almost like corn chips getting crushed in a bag. Hopefully that's descriptive enough. If you get no movement at all, most likely the motor.
