Default Rear end Clunking noise GS300

Hi I have a 1998 GS300 and I was wondering if you guys could help me tell if my differential mounts were bad or how to test them. It seems like a common problem from what I have seen on here but I could not find an inspection procedure. I hear a clunking noise when I accelerate briskly from a dead stop. It sounds and feels as if it is coming from the center rear area. TIA

I actual thought it was the differential mounts, but on some advice from some friends I changed the engine and tranny mounts instead and I have not had a problem since.
