Thumbs down need help bad gasket and filter for tranny

Hey guys I'm on my phone at my mechanics and getting my tranny drained and filled. The auto parts guys sold me the wrong kit and the gasket and filter does not fit. Its a 2001 es 300 .

I called lexus and its 140 for the kit which is insane! No auto parts guys can find a kit here for my car.

Is there a toyota kit I can use that will fit since its essentially the same car?

I can't even get home the fluid and stuff has been drained and we can still order a toyota part just don't know which one.

Wat was the $140 for?

Normally the Toyota Camry V6 will share the same parts as your car.

I'm home now.

The $ 140 was the price that the Lexus dealer gave me for the kit when I called trying to find one desperately.

The kit I bought that was for my car but did not fit from the auto parts guys was $ 30 bucks.

What ended up happening was, he cleaned out the old pan and filter, put some silicone on the old gasket which was still in good condition, and sealed it all back up. Put in new ATF fluid, and that's that. Now I need to find a proper gasket/filter and repeat the whole process again, wasting even more money :@

So that being said, anyone know a good tranny kit for the 2001 Lexus ES300? Can be a Toyota part too, doesn't matter...

What you should have done is just performed a drain and fill of the transmission. Rarely ever do we, as technicians, change the filter. We only change the gasket when it's leaking, in which case I only use RTV sealant. Good Luck.

I bought everything from Lexus:
Trans pan gasket ~$26
Trans drain plug washer and front diff washer just $2 or so
I did NOT replace my filter as it had a metal screen and still appeared in good condition but when I bought a new paper filter for my wife's RX it was ~$60 So a kit would cost ~$90 or $100 for the ES. Good luck.
