Valvoline synthetic oil
I recently happened to buy a small auto parts store and now I want to change the oil in my Sc 400.
But the thing is I,ve been using mobil 1 synthetic oil ever since I owned this car but this time I don't want to buy something from another part store but I want to use the products that my store carry.
Now the problem is the only synthetic oil I have right now is Valvoline so I wanna ask is this oil safe for Toyota engines?
If not what kind of regular oil do u recommend?
I carry Penzoil Castrol and some other one called Rottelat.
I'm only running the store for about a month now and actually this is a store that carry most parts for American vehicles and it's client are mostly Pick up truck drivers.

I just changed the oil in my '08 IS350 at 1330 miles, the oil was pretty clean, but I like to dump it soon after break in. I used Valvoline Syn Power 5w-30 and it works just fine. Not their racing oil, or even their synthetic blend, but the Syn Power full synthetic.
Good luck with this. DanF

The Rottella stuff is for diesel engines not for your lexus at all. Any 5w-30 or similar should be fine regardless of brand... you should start carrying some amsoil and pimp your store through this forum for people in the texas area... just a though... I'd pick the Castrol though... just my .02 based on my own UOA's.

Safe to change?
Hello Gents! I have a 1997 ES300 w/ 122,000 miles. Is it safe to go synthetic at this point? I have always used regular oil and someone told me not to switch with this many miles on the car. Any advise would be appreciated!

Congratulatons on going that long - hope the car runs and works good for you for another 100k + miles ! Its up to you, but with that many miles, why would you want to change? If you did regular oil changes throughout your car's life, it should stay good to go until parts wear out. If it doesnt use any or leak any, I dont think I would change over unless I had a really good reason. Synthetics for most people will cost more than regular oil, so you have to consider that. Synthetics tend to be able to find any possible place to leak out of some people say. Synthetics will give you more protection under most conditions and possibly reduce wear better, but today's regular dino oil is meeting all the same requirements or almost.. I personally feel that changing the oil more frequently with the filter will do more to keep the engine happy than anything else.. Up to you, you have obviously done really good so far, wont hurt to change to Synthetics, except to your bank account.. DanF

I've been using the valvoline sythetic oil in all my cars for almost four years now and not a problem at all. On my last tear down of my supra, the internals were nice and clean with no carbon deposits at all. Note that I drag my supra and it puts alot of wear and tear on the motor and valvoline oil has serve me right. Just make sure you change it accordingly to how you drive your car. For my daily driver GS and IS, I change it every 3k miles. The supra gets oil change every track day.
