Just my 5 cents:

If its not about saving money, go for mineral and change 3x more frequently...
The short intervals of fresh clean oils will do your car much good. The mechanics would also freshen your oil/air filters and lube the other parts when they change out the oils.

Like I'll rather wash my hands after every meal with bar soap then once a day with luxury soap. Geddit?

Yeah I always do 3k intervals, at this point (90k), I may just stick with conventional....

The guys who do oil analysis have actually found zero benefit in early oil changes, and in some instances, it is actually a detriment, and you are better off with longer oil change intervals...

as far as synthetic oil versus normal oil - well, synthetic will definitely protect the engine against deposits, has higher heat ranges without breaking down, and lubricates everything better across the board... but to say its a difference you will feel is asinine... it's nothing more than the placebo effect... even Royal Purple, who claims increased HP, has shown no more than a 3-5 hp increase on 300hp cars... you will NOT notice 1%...

at my shop, we charge $26.99 for synthetic blend oil change and $46.99 for full synthetic...

do it yourself and pay $25 for a 1 gallon jug of Mobil 1, and $3-$9 for a quality oil filter...
