I am about to flush my tranny fluid on my 92 SC400.

I tried doing a search to locate the correct hose to flush my tranny but only found a tread related to the sc300.

What hose is the correct one in order to drain/pump the tranny fluid out while I fill it at the dip stick??
Do you leave car in park or neutral for it to pump out?

 

Sounds like your doing just a drain and fill unless you have your own trans flush machine. There is a drain plug on the bottom of the trans, with the car off drain it out there and then put in about 2.5qts and start the car, while the cars running check the dip stick. keep adding untill it at or just above the cold mark on the dip stick, some people fill it till its between the cold and hot on the dip stick either way is good.

 

also, drop the trans pan and replace the filter and gasket.

 

I do NOT want to drain and refill.

I want to disconnect the transmission cooling line, start the car, and refill as it pumps the tranny fluid into a bucket/pan. I just need to know where this transmission fluid cooling line is exactly???? Im working on a 1992 SC400. Any help is much appreciated??

There are 2 lines coming/going from the bottom of the radiator. Both of these lines will lead back to the transmission. Remove one of the rubber lines at the radiator. Add a rubber hose to the hard line off of the radiator. Secure the lines to a drain bucket (at least 14-16 quarts). Start up the car and find out what line is the pressure line and plug off the other one. Start up the car and watch the flow out of the transmission. When it sputters and almost stops flowing (don’t let it stop flowing) Add fluid until the flow comes back to full flow again. Keep doing this until the fluid is clean (the out flow will be pretty and red). Shut off the motor and re-connect every thing. Top off and run with it. This could take 14+ quarts depending on how dirty the fluid is. I do this every 15K. but that’s just me.

 

which line is the correct one to disconnect? Is it on the right or left hand side of the radiator? from the perspective of sitting inside the car looking forward.

 

Disconnect and start the car for just a sec and see witch one has the fluid pumping out of it. Plug off the other one and re-start the car for the flush. If you are not comfortable doing this, DO NOT do it your self. Take it to some one that is. If done wrong this can damage the transmission.

 

cant you get two buckets, one with new fluid and one empty. and put the pressure side in the empty bucket, and the suction hose in the clean fluid and start the car and let it idle till clean fluid is comming out the pressure side?

 

No. The pick-up for the pump is not the cooler return line.
It is in the bottom of the transmission pan.
