I was talking about how bad my oil performance is. I'm not complaining about the actual commute
I use to drive 55 miles one way in LA traffic. It's not uncommon for someone down here to get stuck in traffic for an hour and a half to 2 hours. This isn't anything new to me.
My daily commute is 1.5 mile each way and that's one way in the morning, and then one way back home at night. It's usually stop and go also. My oil doesn't even get remotely hot enough for optimal performance. Then again, that's why I'm running 5w-20 instead of the 5w-30. No problem ever since the new weight change.
Smart move, you may benefit more by going with 0w-20 since your engine often not reach operating temperature and need the high temp protection form the oil.
GC is great but I will swith to 20 weight oil for the fall and winter.
I've been thinking of going 0w-20, but the only brands around here that carries that weight is mobil 1. I dont see German Castrol around here anymore. I'm not too fond of mobil 1 oil, especially for the price. They want $6-7 a qt around here

I know, Mobil wants $7.5 plus tax for 0w-20, for that price, I can order the new Amsoil 0w-20 oil that many members from BITOG like.
I was able to score couple of old Mobil SL 0w-20 for $5 at a local Napa store. If my stash ran out, I will probably buy Amsoil for winter oil. Not really for wear protection but for slightly better mpg and performance.
